
Francesco Maria TALÒ
Born on August 16th, 1958, in La Spezia (Italy). He completed his studies in Rome where he attended the Faculty of Law at La Sapienza University, obtaining his degree summa cum laude in 1982.
After succeeding in a competitive exam, in 1984 he started his diplomatic career and was assigned to the Press Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 1987. He was then transferred to Tokyo (from 1987 to 1991) and Bonn (from 1991 to 1995). He returned to Rome with the title of Counselor and from 1995 to 1996 was assigned to a Delegation established to organize the Italian Presidency the European Union. From 1996 to 1998 he held successive appointments at the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Office for Relations with Parliament at the Minister’s Cabinet. From 1998 to 2002 he was at the Italian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. From 2002 to 2006 he worked at Palazzo Chigi for the Prime Minister’s Office of the Diplomatic Advisor. In January 2005 he was promoted Minister Plenipotentiary and in October 2005 he was appointed Deputy Diplomatic Advisor to the Prime Minister. From July 2006 to July 2007 he was at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Directorate General for Americas as Head of the South America Desk.
The Hon. Francesco Maria Talò is Lieutenant in reserve of the Carabinieri Corps and Commendatore of the Ordine al Merito della Repubblica. He is married to Ornella Romano and has three children.
The Hon. Francesco Maria Talò assumed his post as Consul General of Italy in New York on August 3rd, 2007.
