After the success of the exhibition-event MATERIAL IMMATERIAL, INTERNI confirms its role as a strategic vehicle of communication for international contemporary design, with the organization in New York, during NYCxDESIGN – the most important design event held each year in May in the Big Apple – in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in New York, of an encounter to examine the relationships and synergies between the Italian design system and American architecture and design.

The program entitled New York Architects Star in Material Immaterial will take place on Friday 19 May at 6.00 P.M., at the headquarters of the Consulate at 690 Park Avenue.

The protagonists of the event are partners in two of the most interesting architecture studios on the international scene based in New York: BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group and SHoP Architects, both included this year in the exhibition-event of INTERNI with two projects, the luminous installation Quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog (produced by Artemide) and the pavilion made with extruded terracotta Wave/Cave (produced by Metalsigma Tunesi, NBK Keramik). After introductory remarks by Francesco Genuardi, Consul General of Italy in New York, and by Gilda Bojardi, editor-in-chief of INTERNI, the two architecture firms will narrate their experiences during Design Week in Milan, focusing on the personal and professional dynamics that emerged during the course of their projects, and on the constantly growing value of the phenomenon of the FuoriSalone, the urban festival invented by INTERNI in 1990, which together with the Salone del Mobile has contributed to make Milan the unrivaled capital of design on a worldwide level.

The representatives of the two studios will be joined by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, vice-president and CEO of Artemide Group, and Carlo Geddo, CEO of Metalsigma USA, who will talk about the synergic relationship between designers and companies that forms the basis for the projects created for the exhibitions of INTERNI. A special guest, Mauro Porcini, SVP and Chief Design Officer of the American multinational PepsiCo, will discuss the present scenarios of Italian creativity in the United States, how Italian design is perceived in America, and the present perspectives of collaboration between the two countries.
